I first became really aware of Rip Torn with The Larry Sanders Show. That went on to become one of my all time favorite TV shows. I thought Mr. Torn was brilliant. I became much more aware of him after that. Supposedly his performance in the Albert Brooks film Defending Your Life helped him get the role. That and he needed money badly. Found out a lot more about Mr. Torn this past week. He always gave a great performance no matter what the style of film. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Disney’s Hercules, Men in Black, Wonder Boys, Marie Antoinette, and of course his great turn as Jack Donaghy’s boss Don Geiss in 30 Rock. He also left us with some great wisdom…”If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”
