Another icon gone. This one really hit hard. When I found out last week, my comic was done and ready to post. Hopefully this isn’t too late to say thanks to a great actor. Young Frankenstein is one of my all time favorite comedies. Every time I watch it, I still laugh. It’s so quotable. In fact I didn’t even mention some of my favorite lines in it just because I didn’t have the panel space. I did end the comic on my favorite though. Wilder helping Terri Garr out of the wagon. You know the rest. Too funny. Gene Wilder was just so brilliant in Young Frankenstein. Every time I watch it his performance gets better and better. The whole cast is phenomenal. I also feel that is Mel Brooks best. He never topped that again. I love Blazing Saddles and The Producers but Young Frankenstein gets the highest honor. I also find it funny that my favorite Brooks films have Gene Wilder in them. A couple movies you have to check out if you haven’t seen them. One is “The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother”. Now be warned, I haven’t seen it a while. But I loved it when I first saw it. They are releasing it on Blu-ray this week. He wrote and directed it and the cast includes Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn and Dom DeLuise. The other is “The World’s Greatest Lover”. That one is not as perfect as his others but is a great homage to silent film making. Also it has one of the funniest takes on film. It’s a scene with Dom DeLuise thats’s so perfect. It’s just a look but it’s priceless. Rest in Peace Mr. Wilder, you will be missed.
